Our new single Gutbucket is where the flow of Funk rock and Psychedelic soul meet. The soulful lyrics capture the compassion a soul has for another when in love and expects nothing in return.
The instrumental song came first. The first time we started writing this song lyrically, it was totally about something else. There was a pause in the practice jam. Eventually, when we returned and revisited the song, Josh (Vocals) had brought the new lyrics to the song which were inspired by his experience in a relationship with a soul whom he loved.
The instrumentation by the band was a nice blend of psychedelic soul and funk rock. We started writing arrangements for the sections and the solos. After enough experimentation, we arranged the song and it started feeling bigger with the 3 piece brass section, guitars, bass, drums, keys, piano, backing vocals and the choir. We poured everything we had into this song. Because for us, we have to feel the music and the song first, so that the listener feels the soul and that is healing for us.
